WOLF HOWL

Hello and welcome. A few people have emailed and asked that I "bring back the wolves". I have decided to do so. Hope you enjoy.

This page is not meant to be a scientific one. I made it because I am fascinated with wolves. I think they are beautiful.....and I think they have gotten a raw deal.Man is trying to run them out, but it is man that is encroaching on their space, not the other way around.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed"

The Teacher, the Pathfinder, Seeker of the moon. Sharer of great truths. Look within and perhaps you will find the wolf. According to American Indian culture, the wolf is the one who shows the way to new insights and knowledge. The wolf has keen senses, and a strong urge to express its individuality and is devoted to its family--qualities that demonstrate the closeness of the bond between wolf and man.

Myth: Wolves are dangerous to humans.
Fact: You stand a better chance of getting hit by a meteorite than killed by a wolf. Although wolves are large, powerful animals that could kill humans, they do not. According to a 2002 study about wolf conflicts with humans, there is no documented case of a healthy, wild wolf killing a human in the United States. By comparison, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate between 10 to 20 people are killed and 4.7 million attacked each year by man's best friend, the domestic dog.

Winter Wolf What a gorgeous creature
"If you talk to the animals they will talk with you and you will know each other.
If you do not talk to them, you will not know them, and what you do not know you will fear.
What one fears, one destroys."  ~~Chief Dan George~

The White Man must treat the beasts of this land as his brother. What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, also happens to the man. ~~Chief Seattle of the Puget Sound Suwamish Tribe (1855)

Two beautiful wolves

  • Wolves can travel long distances at a regular trot of about five miles per hour (eight kilometers per hour). They are much quicker when they hunt. Wolves can also travel far from their home pack and their regular territory in search of food—sometimes hundreds of miles (kilometers).
  • There is no record of a healthy wolf ever eating a human being
  • Even though usually only the alpha male and female have pups, all of the wolf pack’s members take care of the youngsters. They bring them food, play with them, and also act as "baby sitters."
  • Wolves love to play when they have the chance. They start with a play bow and have been seen tossing "toys" to each other like bones, branches, or animal skins

    Wolf Family

"When we lost respect for our fellow creatures, something was lost inside us, and Earth has felt the changes. Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk the Law runneth forward and back— For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.~~Rudyard Kipling

"To look into the eyes of a wolf, is to see your own soul" ~~ Aldo Leopold
