We had a great time at George's (GBM4) 55th Yale reunion. Tree was the youngest there, by far, but all were glad to meet her and she immediately made good friends with a number of the wives, while their husbands were suitably impressed. We stayed at Calhoun College and did all the things Marian (my granddaughter) and I did five years ago, plus we saw the Peabody Museum quite thoroughly, and swam in the exhibition pool at the gym.

GEORGE ACTUALLY GOT TO FENCE BOTH FOIL AND SABER WITH THE GREAT YALE COACH HATUTUNIAN!!! Of course the coach beat me easily, but I did feel honored. He is a great fellow, with a fine men's team record, and an undefeated women's team last year. He is from Armenia (formerly in the Soviet Union), and has fenced for Russia in the Olympics, etc. So have his children! We talked about Armenia (it is great to know something about many countries' history). So he invited us to have Armenian cognac with him in his office and shoot the breeze!

We met many good people, some which are famous. We ate lobster and prime rib, drank wine and Markle Sparkles (they know how to make them at Yale now), and heard some interesting talks. We met the President of Yale, and had a boat ride on the Long Island Sound. We sang a lot and Teresa and I danced -- she is good at that.

We spent Sunday night in Houston, regretting that Faith wasn't there. Altogether it was a happy and successful reunion.

The saddest tale we have to tell, Rol de rol de rol rol rol,
Is when we bid old Yale farewell, Fol de rol de rol rol rol!

HAWAII FOR AN INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS MEETING - Summer 1998

We had an uneventful flight into Maui until we arrived without our luggage. The president of the ICS, Dr. Ray Dieter, his wife Bette, daughter Lynn, and granddaughter Jessica, arrived in Maui at the same time, without their luggage, too! So Tree and Gee got to ride with them, and another VIP doctor, in their stretch limo to the Hyatt Regency on Maui.

The hotel was fabulous! An open lobby with parrots, penguins, African bustards, black and white swans, koy, and tourists all over! The swimming pool weaved around through caves, wood/rope bridges, waterfalls, a waterslide, and cocktail lounges. So many beautiful trim voluptuous figures in tiny bikinis made it all the more appealing!

The meetings were fascinating, but the meeting rooms were COLD! We had to wear long pants and long sleeves and a jacket to keep the frostbite off us! People who are overweight have all that fat insulation, and don't notice the cold like thinner people do.

George, Teresa, and the Dieters went catamaranning the second day. Unfortunately, George's left knee got clipped by the cat's rudder, and he was on crutches for the remainder of the trip. It didn't stop him or Tree from going on a sunset dinner cruise, shopping, swimming, eating, drinking, and other fun stuff, too...

George sang the "Star Spangled Banner" at the first-ever outdoor ICS convocation! What an honor! A dinner and hula show the last night was a nice ending to a great trip.
