Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan

(SCORP)

Help Prioritize Funding Needs

Over the past several months, the NM State Parks Department has been conducting
public meetings regarding the policies and allocation of federal funds (Land and Water
Conservation Funds) for outdoor recreation in New Mexico.   These meetings were
held to collect public input in order to write a new five year plan. This plan is known
as the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) and a draft of
the new plan is now available for public review. Copies of the plan, surveys  and
inventory of sites in southern New Mexico can be accessed at

Your comments on this draft will help determine the priorities for state allocation of
these funds for the next five years. We encourage you to voice your opinion regarding
the  proposed allocations.  The state will be accepting comments on the draft plan
through about the third week of August.
