QRP To The Field 2007 -- Run to the Border

Date:        Saturday, April 28, 2007

Time:        1500Z Apr. 28 to 0300Z Apr. 29

Bands:       40-20-15-10 meters, in the vicinity of the QRP calling
frequencies, please be courteous to others

Mode:        CW only

Power out (QRP only):    5 watts or less

As usual, this event is geared toward having fun while operating
in the field, away from commercial power.

Back by popular demand, a reprise of one of the orinal QRPTTF themes!
The Taco Bell Run to the Border!

The idea here is to operate from as many state/province borders as
possible, or from a Taco Bell restaurant location. Taco Bell stations
will be worth extra points.

Get as close to a border as you can, you do not need to risk life
and limb if a border runs through a lake or across a mountain top.

If you need special permission to operate in your chosen area,
by all means get it. Remember, this is F-U-N!

Since the solar cycle is so low, the operating time has been
extended and the 6 hour restriction removed for now. It's
going to be tough enough as it is, so you will probably need
the extra time. If you need to split your operating time up
to accommodate other plans, then feel free to do so. Jump in
there when you can. Work all stations once per band.

And if you can't make it to the border, by all means, set up
outside in your back yard, away from commercial power as a
field station.

Exchange:      RST + SPC for each border (or TB for a Taco Bell station)
               Example: 559 NM/AZ/NV
                        559 TB

Scoring:       QSO pts - 1 pt for each QSO per band
SPCs pts - count once per band
               (NOTE: Each SPC sent counts as a separate QSO;
for example 559 NM/AZ/NV would count as 3 QSOs)
Taco Bell QSO pts - 10 pts each

Bonus points:  Taco Bell stations may be worked more than once on all bands

Location Multiplier:    Taco Bell station    = x5
                        Border station       = x4
                        Field station        = x3

A summary sheet is also available at the web site:
                             http://www.zianet.com/QRP

Special requirement for Taco Bell stations:
You must include a photo of your station and the Taco Bell
where you operated from. Take the picture so that your
station setup and the Taco Bell store are together in the
frame. That means if you can see your station and the Taco
Bell in the same picture, you're a Taco Bell station.

Deadline:   Send complete logs and summary sheets by June 1, 2007.
Summary sheets must include a description of location and equipment
used. Please also include photographs and a brief write-up, it will
be much appreciated! Your log should include a minimum of time
(in UTC), callsign of station worked, complete exchange received,
RST sent (if not a static exchange). Incomplete submissions will be
used as check logs. Take your time and use a calculator if needed.

Email submission:   send complete logs and summary sheets in ASCII text format
                    only to:    n0qt@arrl.net

Please send text format only (.txt), all other forms will be
rejected so no html, dta, bin, word processor documents or
attachments please. Attached files in the ZIP format are okay
as they do not get deleted. Hopefully every one knows what a
             zip file is.
