Vehicle Diagnostic Self-Test

Self-Test Procedure:

Hold in the trip odometer reset button while turning the ignition key to run will start a self-test, with a readout on the odometer. It will also activate the instrument panels, one at a time.
The test will run for approximately 60 seconds, then automatically shut down. If everything is working correctly you should not see any faults. If you notice a fault refer to the corresponding Chrysler fault codes below. They may help you determine the nature of the problem.  
Error Codes Description of Error

- No ignition reference signal detected during cranking
- Timing belt skipped one or more teeth
- Loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor

- Battery or computer recently disconnected

13
- MAP sensor or vacuum line may not be working

14
- MAP sensor voltage below .16V or over 4.96V

- No speed/distance sensor signal

- Loss of battery voltage detected with engine running

- Engine stays cool too long (bad thermostat or coolant sensor?)
- (1985 turbo only): knock sensor circuit

- Oxygen sensor signal doesn't change (stays at 4.3-4.5V)

- Coolant sensor signal out of range

- Incoming air temperature sensor may be bad

- Throttle position sensor over 4.96V

- Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor driver circuit shorted or target idle not reached
