The sun is very important in most cultures. This is a kachina like figure with a sun headdress made of feathers. It is broken into the four cardinal directions: north, south, east and west. The east-west is shown with the orange rising and setting sun over the green fields of the day. The north and south are shown as the blue sky and royal purple.The face is warring a mask with closed eyes, as if in prayer/mediation. The figure wears a simple ceremonial gown. The mouth is open, as if chanting.
