LOST AMONG
THE ANGELS
by Alice Duncan
Five Star/Gale
June 2006
ISBN 1-59414-363-3
Mercy Allcutt, Boston Brahmin,
wants to experience life in all its grittiness. How better than by working
for a down-on-his luck PI in 1926 Hollywood? Once she discovers what PI
actually stands for, she knows Mr. Ernest Templeton is the boss for her.
Raised in the ivory tower of
proper Boston, when well-bred Mercy gets a job with Ernest Templeton,
Private Investigator, she's ecstatic. Ernie, a jaded ex-cop, is incredulous.
Together, they must cope with a stray child, kidnapping, blackmail, murder,
a toy poodle, a vamp, a stalker, Mercy's overactive imagination and Ernie's
strong protective streak. Throw in a speakeasy, Chinatown, and a couple of
down-and-dirty criminals, and Mercy and Ernie are in for a drama that will
put the motion picture industry to shame. If they can survive long enough to
tell the story.
"Mercy Allcutt is a delight. I hope
she has many more adventures," Carola Dunn, author of the Daisy Dalrymple
mysteries.

CACTUS FLOWER
by Alice Duncan
Five Star
September 2006
(ISBN 1-59414-456-7)
When
a desperate Eulalie Gibb comes to Rio Penasco to escape a murderous maniac, no
one, least of all Eulalie herself, believes she'll find the love of her life
there. Eulalie, who grew up with her sister Patsy in her family’s traveling
theatrical company in New York City, is almost prepared for life in Wild
West—until she meets Nick Taggart. Then she’s pretty sure she’s come to the
wrong place entirely.
As
for Nick—who barely escaped a family full of managing females with his hide
intact—even if he believed in true love, which he doesn’t, he can’t imagine his
personal love being the prickly Eulalie Gibb. He likes his life the way it is:
living with his jolly old uncle Junius and being a blacksmith in the uncivilized
and blessedly remote town of Rio Penasco.
They
both have a lot to learn.
Some nice comments about CACTUS
FLOWER:

Five Coffee Cups! "This is my
first book by Ms. Duncan, but it will not be my last. Cactus Flower is
refreshing and entertaining, humorous yet laden with emotion. Only a gifted
author can rise above cliché in a western romance. Finding it delivers a new
slant on that tradition, I recommend this book highly." Alegria, Reviewer for
Coffee Time Romance, and Reviewer for Karen Find Out About New Books
Five Angels! Recommended Read!
"Alice Duncan has written another great book with Cactus Flower. I
enjoyed reading her book and could not put it down. It is a refreshing and
entertaining read. The emotions and humor are plenty. Nick and Eulalie keep you
reading until the end. Uncle Junius is a funny old man and he will make you
laugh from the start. Cactus Flower is one of the best western romances I
have read in along time. I applaud you Ms. Duncan for such a fantastic book and
I recommend this book highly," Moonluster for Fallen Angels Reviews
"A charming western tale with a
plucky heroine and a cast of memorable characters. Truly a delightful read."
Madeline Baker, bestselling author of DAKOTA DREAMS
"A feisty heroine and a reluctant
hero and an action-filled romance in an Old West setting so real you'll feel
you're there. I couldn't put Alice Duncan's delightful tale down!" Jocelyn
Kelley, award-winning author of A MOONLIT KNIGHT.
"CACTUS FLOWER is truly a fun read, but don't let all the humor fool
you. Underneath it is a heart-rending love story that brings two people together
in unusual circumstances. They learn to trust again and share more than lust as
their love grows. I highly recommend CACTUS FLOWER to anyone who has ever
enjoyed an Alice Duncan read. And, if you haven't read her before, now is a good
time to pick this title off the shelves and take it home for hours of
enjoyment." Carol Carter,
Romance Reviews Today
"Don't miss this rollicking tale of
a sassy miss and a reluctant hero bungling their way into love in old New Mexico
Territory!" Joyce Henderson, author of WRITTEN ON THE WIND
"CACTUS FLOWER is a droll,
hilarious romp through the old west. Alice Duncan is one of the wittiest writers
out there, and this book is definitely destined for your keeper shelf!"
Elizabeth Delisi, author of FATAL FORTUNE
