DOŅA ANA DAYLIGHT LODGE No. 78 AF & AM

BY-LAWS

In conformity with code 129 of the Constitution and By-Laws of the Grand Lodge of New Mexico.

As amended through February 25, 2006

ARTICLE I

Communications and Elections

Section 1. The regular communications of this Lodge shall be held on the second and fourth Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m.

Section 2. The election of Lodge Officers shall be held at the last regular communication in November each year.  Elected and appointed Officers shall be installed, preferably on the anniversary of Saint John the Evangelist if possible, but no later than the 31st of January the following year.

ARTICLE II

Fees

Section 1. Each petition for the degrees shall be accompanied by the sum of seventy-five dollars ($75.00).  Each request for passing shall be accompanied by the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00). Each request for raising will be accompanied by the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00).  Total payment may accompany the petition for degrees.

Section 2. No degree shall be conferred until the fee prescribed in Section 1 has been paid in full.

Section 3. In case of rejection of the petition for the degrees, the amount accompanying the petition shall be returned to the petitioner.  In case a candidate for passing or raising fails to progress the amounts paid toward those degrees shall be returned to the petitioner on his request.

Section 4. Each member of this Lodge, with the exception of prepaid, members, shall pay the sum of Fifty dollars ($50.00), plus a sum equal to the current annual per-capita fee set forth by the Grand Lodge of New Mexico.  Such amount shall be due and payable on January first of each year, in advance, and any Brother who fails to pay the same within six months from that date shall be dealt with in accordance with Code 370 and 374, Grand Lodge By-Laws.

Section 5. The dues of any member of this Lodge may be remitted in whole or in part, but no dues shall be remitted for more than one year in advance.

Section 6. Endowed memberships may be purchased by members of this Lodge in accordance with Code 395, Grand Lodge By-laws.  Endowed memorial memberships may be purchased by this Lodge to honor a departed Brother as the Lodge members may deem appropriate by a simple majority vote of the members present at a stated meeting in accordance with Code 395 , Grand Lodge By-laws.

Section 7. The dues of new members of the Lodge shall commence from the date which they were raised (if raised in this Lodge); or the date which the transfer of membership is completed; or the date of dual or plural membership; and shall be prorated (including Grand Lodge fees) for the remaining months of the year.

ARTICLE III

Allowances

Section 1. The Secretary shall receive such remuneration for the faithful discharge of his duties as the Lodge may from time to time judge to be proper.

Section 2. The Treasurer shall receive such remuneration for the faithful discharge of his duties as the Lodge may from time to time judge to be proper.

Section 3. The Tyler shall receive such remuneration for the faithful discharge of his duties as the Lodge may from time to time judge to be proper.

 

ARTICLE IV

Committees

Section 1. The Worshipful Master, Wardens, Treasurer and Secretary shall constitute the Masonic Board of Relief of the Lodge and will handle all matters of relief and make such contributions from Lodge funds as deemed appropriate.  They will report such action to the Lodge at its next Regular Communication.

Section 2. The Worshipful Master shall on the day of his installation appoint a committee of three members of this Lodge, to be known as the Audit Committee.  It shall be the duty of this committee to audit the books and accounts of the Treasurer and the Secretary for the year preceding the appointment and report the findings of this audit to the Lodge, at a Stated Communication, no later than the first Regular Communication in March.

Section 3. The Ways and Means Committee of this Lodge shall consist of three members.  This Committee shall, as soon as practicable after appointment, present to the Lodge for approval an annual budget for the current year.  The budget, when approved, shall serve as a guide for the expenditure of Lodge funds during that year.  All matters pertaining to the finances of the Lodge shall be referred to this committee for consideration and report to the Lodge.

Section 4. The Worshipful Master shall appoint such other Standing and/or Special Committees as may be deemed necessary.

ARTICLE V

Funds

Section 1. A general fund (and other funds as the Lodge may direct) shall be maintained for this Lodge. All monies received by the Secretary shall be paid over to the Treasurer for deposit in the appropriate bank account. The expenses and charitable contributions of this Lodge shall be disbursed from the general fund as agreed to by the ways and means committee and a majority of the Brothers present at a stated communication.

Section 2. The books and records of the Lodge shall be maintained in such a manner as to facilitate the annual audit of the Lodge and the Secretary’s’ report to the Grand Lodge.

 

ARTICLE VI

To Cover all Articles Herein

Section 1. All matters that may arise for the proper government of this Lodge and not governed by these By-Laws may be presented in a regular resolution in writing to the Lodge; provided that said Resolution is in the accordance with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Grand Lodge of New Mexico.

Section 2. These by-laws supersede all previous by-laws.
