TIPS ON MAINTAINING YOUR EQUIPMENT

1.)  NEVER "DRY FIRE" YOUR BOW -- Shooting your bow without an arrow to absorb the bow's energy, could result in severe damage to your bow and possible injury to you or to others around you.

2.)  NEVER EXPOSE YOUR BOW TO EXTREME TEMPERATURES -- Excessive heat, such as could be experienced on a hot, sunny day, inside an enclosed vehicle, could cause limb failure.  Prolonged storage in a hot, dry attic or damp bow case or basement, could also be damaging to your bow.

3.)  INSPECT YOUR BOW CAREFULLY BEFORE SHOOTING IT --   Take note of the condition of the bowstring, limbs, and riser before you shoot.  Frayed bowstrings should be replaced.  Damaged limbs should be reported to the dealer where you made your purchase.

4.)  MAINTENANCE OF BOWSTRING AND BOW LIMBS -- Apply a light coat of bowstring wax to the bow's string on a regular basis.  With target bows, apply a quality car polish to protect the finish and luster of your bow limbs.

5.)  DO NOT SHOOT YOUR BOW ABOVE OR BELOW ITS DESIGNATED DRAW WEIGHT --- Most compound bows shoot most efficiently at or very near their maximum stated draw weight.  Shooting way over the max puts a lot of unnecessary stress on the bow.  Cranking the limb bolts way above maximum weight can result in stripped threads, and/or damaged limbs.    And shooting below the minimum range, decreases efficiency and may result in limb bolts suddenly popping loose and/or a limb separating explosively from the riser.

6.)  USING THE WRONG BOW CASE OR NONE AT ALL --  Casing your bow is well worth the brief amount of time it requires but not every case will fit the situation.  While cloth bow cases may be easier to carry and cheaper to have, they may not offer the adequate protection for your bow in the long run.  This is your investment, protect it well!

7.)  INSPECT ALL YOUR ARROWS  -- Before shooting, inspect your arrows for defects.  Replace any cracked nocks and discard any fractured, splintered or dented arrows.  Replace all loose fletching.

AND REMEMBER ---- The bow is a lethal weapon.  Abide always by all safety requirements and make sure that children are  supervised by an adult when shooting.
