throughout the process of planning for the Ninth Annual Book Festival,

The Border Book Festival (BBF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit literary,
literacy and storytelling organization needs volunteers starting March
15, 2003 at the Frietze Store in Mesilla.
We need personable and friendly volunteers of all ages and backgrounds
to sell festival tickets, hand out festival information and assist visitors
in learning more about literature in the borderland area.
The 9th Annual Border Book Festival, The Divine Frontier/La Frontera
Divina, will take place April 3-6, 2003 in Mesilla.
The festival will focus on border themes of all types including land,
water, cultural and human rights issues. Highlights include Libros Y
Más, a trade show featuring national, regional, and local presses
and authors, a mini border film series featuring the work of Lourdes
Portillo, Paul Espinosa, Ray Santisteban and Willie Varela, as well
as readings by Sandra Cisneros, Demetria Martínez, Rubén
Martínez, Benjamin Alire Saénz, Luis Alberto Urrea, Ricardo
Aguilar Melantzón, Oscar Casares, Mariza Pérez, Denise
Chávez, Rich Yañez, and Stella Pope Duarte, as well as
a special Homenaje/Tribute to Arturo Islas. Family events inlcude Stories!
Stories! Stories a storytelling festival.
