About the Gila Bird and Nature Festival

The Gila Bird and Nature Festival is a community-based event that encourages interest in the natural and cultural assets of Silver City, Grant County and the Gila National Forest.

Discovery, Enjoyment, and the Conservation of these resources are the guiding principles of the Festival. Activities include guided field trips to learn about local birds, reptiles, native plants, land forms, and the prehistoric Mimbres Culture of southwestern New Mexico.   Keynote Speaker:

Her essays have been widely anthologized, and she is featured in American Nature Writers (Scribners and Sons, 1998) as an emerging voice in nature writing.
