PeaceAware is a loosely coupled collection of peace groups
in Southern New Mexico. We organize Teach-Ins, Interfaith Symposiums, and Vigils
for Peace. We operate a listserve (peace@nmu.edu),
a website (PeaceAware.com), and a
discussion board (groups.yahoo.com/group/PeaceAware).
Our mission is to serve the PeaceAware community of New Mexico by providing spaces for dialog where voices for peace can be heard and our community creates peaceful options. Our vision is to create a world where peace reins and people are aware of options to war. We engage in activism, not protest. Activism seeks to bring change through action steps. Protest is yelling; activism is listening and dialog. Our common value is commitment to peace and non-violence. These are our values:
is
"Respecting all Life."
is acting with
AWARENESS.
is BEING AWARE of
PEACE.
is Voices
Speaking-Out for PEACE.
is being able to
Visualize a Peaceful World.
is non-Violence
(Ahimsa) and Reverence for all life.
is BEING AWARE of
the consequences of the War Machine.
is the way we
approach our lives, our food, other beings, and our environment.
