VEGETARIAN CAPITALISM:

David M. Boje

These are my personal views and do not reflect the views or programs of the university where I work.

Vegetarian Capitalism (hereafter VC) is defined as the transformation of animal-killing and flesh-eating capitalism into Ahimsa (non-violent) forms of production, distribution, and consumption that respect all life. We can transform predatory (flesh-eating, sweatshop, violent) Global Capitalism (hereafter GC) into the Ahimsa values. VC is based on the Ahimsa assumption that consuming vegetables accumulates non-violence in modes of production which is then distributed in global supply chains so that the terror to animals who we assume do suffer and do have a soul, and are not mere machines is not consumed by caring (Ahimsa) consumers, who refuse to ingest the violence accumulated against animals at the time of their slaughter, and intend to develop a compassion and reverence for all life.
