but could be done with other versions.
All of my tutorials are written
following the steps I used to make my graphic. My idea of a good tutorial
is one that shows you how to do something and inspires you to add your
own style

STEPS - These are the steps I used

Lets Begin
New Image: 100 x 100
File/Save As:
acorn-tex.psp
2.
Make The Texture
Foreground Color: #5A2002
Flood Fill
Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds
Width: 10
Opacity: 60
Color : Black
Horizontal: checked
Light from left/top: checked
Layers/Duplicate
Image/Rotate
Direction: right
Degrees: 90
All layers: Not checked
Layer Palette
Click in the center of the section with the opacity number
then use the left or right arrow keys on the keyboard
to adjust the opacity to 50
Layers/Merge/Merge Visible
Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen More
Repeat the sharpen step
Preset Shapes: Ellipse
Antialias : checked
Create as vector: checked
Draw an ellipse about 150 x 150 in the lower two thirds
of the window
Vector Object Selector Right click to Node Edit
Click on the top node and drag it down slightly
Click on one of the arms and pull it out slightly
Repeat for the other arm
Click the bottom node and drag down slightly
click on one of the arms and pull up slightly
click on the other arm and pull up slightly
Preset Shapes: Ellipse
Antialias : checked
Create as vector: checked
Draw an ellipse for the cap
Vector Object Selector Right click: Node Edit
Click on the top node and drag it up slightly
Click on the right side node and drag it down slightly
Pull the top arm up slightly
Click on the top node
Click the right arm and pull it slightly in and down
Click on the other side node and pull it down
Repeat for the left node
Quit Node Editing
Adjust size if needed
Vector Object Selector Draw a box around the acorn
Right click/Group
Layer Palette
Click on the + sign next to the vector layer
Double click on Group1 and rename it: acorn
File/Export/Shape
Export shape Library: acorn-001
Layers/Convert To Raster
File/Export/Picture tube

New Image: 300 x 300
File/Save As:
leaf.psp

Draw The Leaf
Open LeafSample.jpg
Edit/Copy
Edit/Paste
Magic Wand
Match mode: RGB Value
Tolerance: 50
Feather: 0
Sample merged: not checked
Click on any white area
Selections/Modify/Select Similar
hit the delete key
Draw Type: Point to Point Line
Width: 2
Line Style: solid
Antialias: checked
Create as vector: checked
Close path: checked
Start at the bottom of the leaf and click around the outline
Right Click: Quit Node Editing
Vector Object Selector Right click: Node Edit
Click on one node and move it slightly then Double Click
on it to select all the nodes
Ctrl + S to make them all symmetric [this smoothes out
the corners slightly
Right Click: Quit Node Editing
Node Edit to adjust any node you want changed.

Foreground Color: #6C370C
Background Style: Null
Draw Type: Point to Point Line
Width: 2
Line Style: solid

Close path: NOT checked
Draw the center vein
Right Click: Quit Node Editing
Node edit as needed
Draw in the side veins and edit as needed
Vector Object Selector Draw a selection around the leaf
Right Click/Group
Layer Palette
Click on the + sign next to the vector layer
Double click on Group1 and rename it: leaf
File/Export/Shape
Export shape Library: leaf-001
Layers/Convert To Raster
Delete the pattern layer
File/Export/Picture tube
Export Picture Tube: leaf-001

Change the color of the leaf
Edit/Enhance Photo/Manual Color Correction
Click on the left magnifying glass to shrink the view
Draw out a selection to select the entire leaf in the
left hand window

Preserve lightness: not checked
Preserve saturation: not checked
Color Category: Vegetables
