Click on the top node
Hold down the Shift Key and click on the bottom node
Tap the left arrow key 15 times
Click on any blank space
Click on the top node
Click on the Control Handle and move it
inward towards the node some
Click on the bottom node
Click on the Control Arm and pull it inward a little

Object Selection Tool
Click on the head
Pen Tool
Mode: Edit
Click on the left node
Tap the left arrow key 8 times
Tap the down arrow key 7 times
Click on the right node
Tap the left arrow key 6 times
Click on the Control Handle and pull up slightly so it meets the topknot
Click on the Control Arm and pull down slightly
Make any other adjustments you feel necessary
Add a new node on the right side where the head and body come together
Click on the bottom node
Tap The Del Key
Notice that the head and body now look connected

Topknot Adjustments

Active Layer: topknot
Layers/ Arrange/ Bring to Top
Note: Originally I had planned to delete the top of the head to blend it with the topknot.
However I discovered that by doing that I ended up with just two lines on each side of the head.
Object Selection Tool
Click on the topknot
Pen Tool
Mode: Edit
Add a new node on the bottom line
Select the new node
Tap the Del Key

Add a new node between the two nodes near the tail
Click on the new node
Tap the Del Key
Make adjustments as desired

Adjust the other side so it looks similar
