STEPS - These are the steps I used. |

Make A Custom Line |

New Image 400 x 400
File/Save As:
chocolates.psp
Draw Tool
Open the Tool Options Palette
Click the Custom button next to Line style
1. Click the Save as new button at the bottom
Type in rounded line
Click Ok you will be back at the main
window
Click Custom again
2. Click the arrow under First cap in the top left corner
Choose the second one Round cap
3. Click Size and type in 1.00 notice both numbers change
4. Click the arrow under Last Cap and choose Round Cap
again
5. Click size and type in 1.00 again
6. Click Save and you are ready to go

Make Some Fillings |

Flood Fill with: #DF99A6
Effects/Plug-in filters/Fantastic Machines/Paint Engine/Borg
Change Effect/Amount to 2.21
It came to my attention that not everyone has the borg
and bloom settings in their Paint Engine
so I have included screen shots of the original
settings.
Apply
File/Save
Nut Crunch
New Image 100 x 100
File/Save As: nutcrunch.psp
Make the Texture
Flood Fill with Color: #743D1C
Effects/Plug-in filters/Fantastic Machines/Paint Engine/Bloom
Change Effect/Amount to .34
Apply
File/Save
Minimize both of these on the desktop for use later |

Lets Begin |

View/Grid
View/Change Grid and Guide Properties
Under Grids
Units: pixels
Horizontal spacing: 100
Vertical spacing: 100
Line color: black
Each block of the grid will hold a candy
We are going to do all the vectoring first
To make node editing easier Zoom in several times
Use +/- on the numeric keypad to change the magnification
+ = increase
- = decrease
If you have a mouse with a wheel
rotate forward to increase
rotate backwards to decrease |

Candy 1 - Chocolate Covered Cherries |

New Vector Layer: Candy 1
Foreground: Null
Background Color: #572311
Preset Shapes: Ellipse
Line Width: 3
Line Style: rounded line
Antialias: Checked
Create as vector: Checked
Draw an ellipse in the first block
Object Selector
Click on the ellipse
Right Click/Node Edit
Click on one of the side nodes and move it down until
The bottom is almost flat
Repeat with the other side node
Click on the bottom node
Hold down the CTRL Key and run the mouse over the node
until you will see a small MERGE just below the arrow
Now click on the node to remove it. Notice how
the
bottom is now nicely rounded
Right Click/quit Node Editing
Right Click/Copy
New vector layer: candy 2
Move over to the third block
Right Click/Paste New Vector Selection
This will be used later for another candy
Layer palette
Click on the glasses next to this layer to turn it off
Make candy 1 the active layer
Click on the shape
Right click/Node Edit
Click on the top node and pull out slightly on each arm
until the shape resembles a gumdrop
Draw Tool
Type: Freehand Line
Width: 8
Line style: rounded line
Antialias: checked
Create as vector: checked
To reverse the background and foreground colors,
click the double-headed arrow to the left of the boxes
Foreground color: #572311
Background: Null
Draw a small swirl on top of the candy
Layer Palette
Click the + next to candy 1
Click the glasses next to ellipse so you can see the
swirl
Click the glasses again to turn the ellipse back on
Object Selector Tool
Drag the cursor to draw a box around the entire candy
Right Click/Copy
New vector layer: candy 1a
Right click/Paste New Vector Selection
Paste into the second block
Layer Palette
Click on the + sign next to candy 1a
Click the eyeglasses next to Freehand to turn this off
for now
Right Click on Ellipse/Properties
Click on the little arrow next to Stroke and choose
solid
it will switch to the foreground color #572311
Click on the Fill color box and change it to white #FFFFFF
Click the glasses next to Freehand to turn it back on
and
Drag this section below the Ellipse
Foreground: Null
Background: #800000
Preset Shape: Ellipse
Antialias: Checked
Create as vector: Checked
Hold down the shift key and draw a circle for the cherry
Save

Make candy 2 the active layer
Click on the glasses to turn this layer back on

Click on the Fill box/Change the color to #2F0800
Right Click/Copy
New Vector Layer: candy 2a
Right Click/Paste New Vector Selection
Place in the fourth block
Right Click/Properties
Click on the little arrow next to Stroke and choose solid
Change to color: #2F0800
Click on the little arrow in the Fill color box and choose
solid
Change to color: #DF99A6

Draw out a rectangle in the fifth block
Object Selector
Right Click/Node Edit
Move the two bottom nodes towards the center and down
slightly
Move the two top nodes towards the center and up slightly
Double click on any Node and type
CTRL + S to change all the nodes to Symmetric
Click in the center
Click on a node and pull the arm slightly toward the
corner
Repeat for each node. This makes the corners round
nicely.

Create as vector: checked

Draw a small swirl on top of the candy

Add a node where the ellipse crosses the bottom of the
rectangle
Add one on the other side
Click the bottom node
Tap the delete key
Right click/Quit Node Editing.

Saving The Shapes |

Shift D to make a new copy of your candies
Close the original
Object Selector
Draw a box around the first candy
Right Click/Group
Draw a box around the second candy
Right click/Group
Continue Selecting and Grouping each candy that has
more than one part
Layer Palette
Click on the + next to candy 1
Double Click on Group 1
Rename it: choco cherry
Repeat for all the grouped candies
For the candies with no group
Click on the + sign next to the candy
Double click on the next layer and rename it
Object Selector
Click on any blank space to make sure none of the objects
are selected
File/Export/Shape
Name it Candies
Click Ok
Check it out
Preset Shape
Click the Tool Options window and you will now see each
candy as a separate shape
Now close this copy [I don't save this one] |
