EXPORTING A SHAPE
I am using the bow I made, you can make your own here.
If you click on the + sign next to any vector layer you will see a drop down list showing the shape
or shapes you used to draw on that layer. If you used the pen to draw you will see New Shape.
Because Ellipse, and Rectangle are already preset shapes you need to rename the ones in your shape so PSP does not get confused.
I suggest working on a copy of your image
Save the image
Hold down the Shift Key and type a D to make a duplicate copy
Click the - sign at the top of the original to minimize it

Work on the Copy
So first you need to rename all the shapes
Layer Palette
Click on the first vector layer
Click the + sign before the layer

Double Click on the drop down line
A new window will pop up and the layer name will be highlighted

Just type in the new name
I use the same name as the layer name

Do this for each vector layer
I like having things grouped
This makes it easier if I want to change something later on
Click on one of the parts for the first group
Layers/ View/ Current Only
Layer Palette
Click the eye next to all the other layers you want in the group
I used all the left bow parts

Object Selection Tool
Click on a blank space near the top
Hold down the mouse button and drag out a rectangle to enclose the entire shape

Right Click anywhere on the image/ Group
Now if you look at the Layer Palette you will see that all
the left layers are empty, except the bottom one
This is where the group is
Layer Palette
Right Click on one of the empty layers/ Delete
Do this for each empty layer
Click the + sign next to the layer with the Group
Double Click on Group 1/ Rename it:
I named mine left bow
Click the + sign next to the renamed group and you will see all the parts you just grouped
Click the eye to turn off the view of this layer
Click the eye next to the parts you want for the next group
Object Selection tool
Draw a rectangle around the part you want to group
Right Click/ Group
Delete the empty layers
Click the + sign next to the layer with the group
Double Click on Group 1: rename
*I named mine right bow
I did not group the knot because it only had one layer
Once finished grouping turn all the layers back on
Object Selection tool
Draw a rectangle around the entire object
Right Click/ Group
Delete the empty layers
Click the + sign next to the layer with the group
Double Click on Group 1: rename
*I named mine Bow 4 because I have 3 other bow shapes
File/ Export/ Shape
Type in the name you want for your shape
Test your Shape
Open a new image big enough to hold your shape
New Vector Layer
Preset Shape Tool
Shape: scroll to find your shape
Retain style: Checked
If you don't check this box your bow will be in the colors on your palette
Anti-alias: checked
Draw out your shape
Notice you can draw it smaller or larger than the original

You can now close the copy, we don't need it anymore |
