Theoretically, the "diamond" in Diamond Willow is brought about by an insect burrowing into the living wood in the dead of winter. The diamond forms as the tree limb attempts to heal itself.
Diamond Willow is gathered in the winter from the swamps of Minnesota by Swamp Woman. These are dried for one year in Minnesota, then debarked with an old draw-knife. Each diamond is individually burred to perfection. The walking stick is then individually sanded at least three times before tung-oil varnish is applied.
These are made using the same process as the walking sticks. They came about because my Goddess Cribbage Pegs needed a place to play.
