Charter Review Effort The Southern New Mexico Common Cause chapter has made a major effort to promote a citizen review of the city charter. This effort featured a steering committee and a series of public meetings in 2003 to discuss the charter. The final report of that effort is available here. One result of this effort is the appointment of a committee by the city to review the charter and to come up with suggestions to improve it. This committee has developed a time line for its efforts and a form which interested citizens can use to bring suggestions to their attention. There will be a series of public meetings and a report to the city council in June. This web site has available a page indicating the duties of the review committee, the time line for its deliberations, and the forms for suggestions. |
