I am first a mom and wife, then a teacher!
The few minutes left in the day after that are for my favorite pastimes!

Personal

I have two beautiful girls in elementary school and a husband of 19 years.
I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Right after I graduated from high school I moved to Las Cruces to attend New Mexico State University and decided to make this town my home.

Professional

Educator
  • I have taught in the Las Cruces Public Schools District for 20 years. In 20 years I have been very fortunate to have enjoyed experiencing Learning Disabilities, and Behavioral Disorders.
  • I also experienced being an elementary School Principal during my 20 year adventure in education.
  • I have been teaching in the regular classroom for the last ten years as a third grade teacher and most recently as a Multi-Age Teacher of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in one classroom for a three year cycle. I have now gone full circle in 20 years!
  • I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Special Education, and a Master's Degree in Special Education and Educational Management, and an Administrative Certificate.
Special Projects
  • In the last two years I have been involved with some technology projects that have completely changed the way I have been teaching. One project that started it all was The US WEST grant that introduced me to technology!
  • I was then selected to do some Technology Training for the the state in the RETA project which made me grow professionally! This training was for teachers to train teachers in the use of technology.
  • And last but not least, is the Seeds of Change and the Digital Desert Library Project which will allow me to facilitate a project to have a Nature Desert Walk at our school!
