Special Response Team

Paramedic Townsend has served as the Coordinator for the Special Response Team/TEMS unit since its inception. He is currently the Executive Director of Region II EMS, Inc of Las Cruces, which has EMS system implementation and evaluation responsibilities for the seven southwestern counties of New Mexico under a contract with the New Mexico Injury Prevention and EMS Bureau. He has been a paramedic and EMS administrator since 1977 and has managed ambulance operations in both New Mexico and Michigan. He attended college at Case-Western Reserve University and Michigan State University. Tom served for twelve years as an EMS Consultant and Michigan State Police trained Investigator with the Michigan Department of Public Health and a liaison with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Tom is the TEMS program training coordinator for the State of New Mexico and has completed DASO's SWAT/SRT school.
