DASO's SRT Schools
| Each
year, the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department Special Response team hosts a basic SRT
school entitled "SWAT/SRT: Structure, Tactics and Training." The
school is accredited through the New Mexico Department of Public Safety for 80 hours of
advanced level training and is open to tactical law enforcement operators and military
police and/or special operations personnel. Topics include (to name only a few): Intelligence Gathering Techniques, Operations Planning, Breaching Techniques, Use of Body Bunker, Chemical Munitions, Light Sound Diversionary Devices, M26 Taser, Impact Munitions, SWAT/K9 Operations, Armored Vehicle Operations, Shooting Exercises and Tactical Shooting, Building Clearing Exercises, Tactical Helicopter Operations, and Vehicle/Bus Assaults.

also hosts a NMDPS-accredited 40-hour Advanced SWAT/SRT School. Topics
covered in the Advanced School include: Rappelling, Hostage Rescue, Vehicle Assaults, and
multiple live-fire exercises. The 2005 Advanced SWAT/SRT School will be held March 14 through March 18. (Details) Thus far, personnel from the following agencies have attended the DASO SRT Schools: |

| We will be having our next Basic SWAT/SRT class during the summer of 2004 and would invite any tactical law enforcement or military organization to attend.
