This is a picture of my PSK-80 QRP
PSK-31 Transceiver that is being sold by the New Jersey QRP Club
as a club project. You get the circuit board and all componets
that mount on it for $45.00 shipping included. The articles and
construction notes on this unit nicknamed the "WARBLER"
stated that contacts over 200 miles were possible. It puts out
4 watts PEP. I have worked many contacts over 700+ miles with
my unit using a Butternut HF-2V vertical with 16 twenty-five
foot radials. It is really built like a tank and works very well.
You do not need any special computer to radio interface as the
computer interface is built into the transciver. The PSK-80 QRP Transceiver webpage: http://www.njqrp.org/warbler/index.html |

This is a picture of my PSK-20 QRP
PSK-31 Transceiver that is being sold by Small Wonder Labs. It's
present cost is $128 dollars including a real nice metal case.
I have worked all over the US with this unit and have tried contacting
a couple of DX stations but just didn't make it. It puts out
4 watts PEP and is designed very well. I really enjoy the simplified
operation of this radio. You do not need any special interfaces
as the radio computer interface is built into the transceiver.

The software used with the above two transceivers is usually DIGIPAN, although there are many more new software programs that are coming out each week to allow you to work the PSK-31 mode. The website for the different software programs is as follows: The information and Software site: http://www.kender.es/~edu/psk31.html |
If you want to use your existing Hf or Vhf Radio on PSK-31, you will need a good interface box between your radio and computer. You can build your own, build a kit, or buy one already made for your radio. This interface can also be used for SSTV and other software programs that use the sound card in your computer as the Digital Signal Processing device. A great site with lots of resources and information on interfacing the radio to the computer is as follows: The information and interface site: http://www.packetradio.com/psk31.htm |
I hope this information helps others get on the bands using PSK-31. If I can help you, Please Email me at: dhassall@zianet.com |
