Builders Group Projects

This is one of the many Tuna Tin Two 40 meter transmitters built by the group. This one belongs to Jim WA2NIJ. It has the keying modification and was built Manhattan style and the cabinet is a Altoids candy tin. We are progressing on to Bigger and Better things but will eventually end up with an operating VFO controlled transceiver. This transmitter puts out 400 Milliwatts at the present time. A pair of QRP "boots" is also in the works.
Here is one of the Regenerative Receivers that was built by Henry. He even went so far as to build his own string dial drive to improve the fine tuning aspects of his tuning capacitors. This receiver tunes from about 3.5 Mhz to 7.3 Mhz.

This is our next project. It is a 7 Mhz VFO for use as the main tuning oscillator for a 40 meter direct conversion receiver. The Oscillator coil is made from a 5/16" soda straw that just happened to accompany a real good chocolate milk shake from the local Sonic Drive-in. The tuning element is a 6/32" brass flat head screw that is 1 and a 1/4" long.
This is the beginings of a complete 40 meter cw transceiver. It uses the VFO module above, an RF amplifier, a Double ballanced mixer, and Audio stages, including a varriable audio filter. It is built on a sheet of PC Board from Radio Shack with another piece cut in half for the front and back panels. The Tuna Tin Two transmitter and a 5 watt Amplifier will mount on the bottom of the board. This is an ongoing project of the builders group in our quest for the ultimate simple transceiver.
