It is said Patterson was a Scotchman married to an Indian woman. She w as called a giantess because she was so big and strong. They say when s he ordered two barrels of flour the merchant said he needed help putting t hem into the wagon and she said she would help. He said if she could put t hem into the wagon she could have them for free,___ she did. Another ta le is that when Patterson put whiskey in her stew, she picked him up by t he seat of his pants and threw him across the room. They lived in Kansas.
