MINUTES OF THE DOG OBEDIENCE CLUB OF LAS CRUCES

November 3, 2005

MEMBERS PRESENT: President Vic Villalobos, Secretary Marjorie A. Henson, Treasurer Charlene Curry; OTHER MEMBERS: Julie Goodrich, Brian Owen, Erica Voges, Gayle Treakle, Shannon Murray, Janet Miller, Pam Smith, Lisa & Paul Westbrook; VISITORS: Sandy Bourdet, Sue Klima

President Vic Villalobos called the meeting to order at 7:05. Julie Goodrich moved & Gayle Treakle seconded to approve the minutes as presented in the newsletter. Motion passed.

The Treasurer's Report was made.

AGILITY: Agility classes will be starting next week & there are 2 more classes. The new lights are very good. Vic & Steve have a workday scheduled to work on the trailer the day before Thanksgiving and plan on having the trailer ready to load for the Agility Trial on December 3. Vic would like the club logo put on the trailer and would like to have it put on before the workday. Pam Smith moved and Brian Owen seconded to have the logo put on the Agility Trailer. Motion passed.

SHIRTS: Paul Westbrook had a gray shirt with the club logo made up for himself. They can be ordered from Hoop-t-Dudes. The shirt & logo costs were discussed. The shirts can be ready in 7-10 days after the shirts are ordered. Paul would like the club to have them for the Agility Trial. A list was sent around for ordering the shirts.

A survey was sent out in the newsletter. It needs to be returned to Nancy by the end of November.

AGILITY TRIAL: The premium list will close of Sunday at 6:00. There are 320 runs on Saturday & 319 runs on Sunday. The sheets are going around for people to sign up to help. We need to get raffle prizes for the workers at the Agility Trial. Shannon moved and Pam seconded to provide 12 $25 gift certificates from Target. The motion passed. The judges' gifts have been bought. There will be a judges' dinner at La Posta on December 3. Set-up will be on Friday December 2. Everyone who can, will meet at Pam's at 4:00. Set up will be at the High Noon Soccer Field at 6 PM.

DECEMBER MEETING: It is difficult to have a Christmas party and a meeting in December. Shannon Murray moved & Brian Owen seconded to have the meeting at SI Bistro on December 1, which is the regular meeting, date. The motion passed. Do we want to award the Achievement awards at the dinner? It was decided to award the special awards at the meeting. The information needs to be turned into Pam Smith by November 15; it would be better if it was turned in by November 8. It was decided to order off the Menu. There will be a $10 or less dog-related gift exchange.

NEW BOARD MEMBERS: There was a vote on the slate of officers & board members that were presented by the nominating committee at the last meeting. The slate of officers & board members were accepted.

Sue Klima met with the Mayor and had a discussion about the lack of dog facilities and the fact that dogs are not at various events that are held by the city. Perhaps we can set something up so that dogs that the CGC could have special privileges at City events in the parks. The mayor wants to do more.

Brags were made.

The meeting was adjourned.
