CHRISTMAS LIGHTS GUIDED NIGHT WALK
DECEMBER 19, 2008 (Note:  This is on Friday)
LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO

START/FINISH POINT...The Trails West Senior Community clubhouse at 1450 Avenida de Mesilla, Las Cruces, New Mexico.

NOTE...This is a Guided Night Walk. There will be a fast group and a slow group, and if necessary, an intermediate group. This walk will pass through areas of Mesilla and Mesilla park which traditionally have the most colorful/elaborate Christmas light decorations in the area.   Wear light color clothing and bring a flashlight!!

START TIME...You must register between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Start will be at 5:30 PM.

All fees include IVV Credit and are due by 12 December 2005.

LATE REGISTRATION...At the Start Point.

CREDIT/NON-CREDIT PARTICIPANTS... All participants must register and get a start card. The fee for IVV Credit is $3.00.

PROCEDURE...At the start point, obtain your stamped start card and wait for the walk guides to form the slow and fast groups for each distance. Join the group of your choice and proceed with the group to walk the course. Upon completion of the course, return your start card to the finish point for IVV Credit. NOTE: All start cards remain the property of the Sun Country Striders.

"B" AWARDS...Various "B" patches from previous walks are available for $5.00 each.

REFRESHMENTS...The finish point will have hot cider and other refreshments.

TRAIL RATING...The trail is level and easy, along canal banks and residential streets. Because of darkness, this event is not suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.

PETS...Must be leashed and controlled at all times.

IVV RECORD BOOKS...Event and distance books are available at the finish point for $5.00 each.

MEMBERSHIP...in the Sun Country Striders, Ltd. is open to all without restrictions as to race, color, ethnic origin, sex, religion, age, national origin or physical ability. You are invited to become a member in the Sun Country Striders. Applications are available at the finish point.

DIRECTIONS to the Start/Finish Point ...

INTERSTATE 10 From the East or West: ...Take Exit 140 (Mesilla), and turn west (left from the east and right from the west) onto Avenida de Mesilla. Go 0.5 mile and turn right into the Trails West Senior Community and proceed to the clubhouse.

INTERSTATE 25 From the North: ...Proceed to I-10 and follow the ramp towards Deming and Tucson. Take Exit 140 as noted above.
