VOLKSSPORTING is a healthy adventure in recreation, fellowship, and fun through walking, bicycling, swimming, or cross-country skiing. After you register to walk, you may proceed at your own pace, and enjoy the scenery, fresh air, and local community.

SPONSOR ... The Sun Country Striders, Ltd., incorporated in New Mexico as a non-profit organization, is dedicated to promoting health, recreation, and fellowship through volkssports events. Participation is open to the public and everyone is welcome. Membership is open to all regardless of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, or financial status. Please join us and become an active member! Annual Membership is $6.00 per person and only $12.00 for the entire family.

GENERAL INFORMATION ... With five different start-finish points and various operating hours, please check the specified start-finish times. You may participate only during daylight hours. You must finish before dusk. Each route or trail is designated and marked. Water and rest rooms are available. Pets must be controlled and on a leash; please bring water for your pets. You are eligible for each IVV event credit only once each calendar year. And, you get IVV distance credit every time you complete the course. NOTE - IVV credit (event and/or distance) will be placed only in the corresponding IVV record books. Each new record book costs $5.00. These events are open regardless of weather conditions; no refunds.

PROCEDURE...At the start point, register in our AVA notebook, place your fee in the start envelope, and check the appropriate box on the envelope. Depending on the trail, either get the envelope stamped at the check point(s) or record the message(s) on the envelope. Use the same envelope when you do the same route twice on the same day. At the finish point turn in the envelope for your award and/or IVV credit. NOTE - All start envelopes must be returned upon completion of each course.
