VILLAGE AT NORTHRISE
LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO
YEAR-ROUND WALK

This is an 10 km (6.2 miles) or 5 KM (3.1 miles) event with the registration point at the Village at Northrise, Hallmark Unit, 2882 N. Roadrunner Parkway, Las Cruces, New Mexico.

DIRECTIONS to the Start/Finish Point ...

2882 N Roadrunner Pkwy, Las Cruces, NM 88011-0890 (Hallmark unit at the Village at Northrise). Open daily all year. From I-10, exit to I-25 toward Albuquerque. From I-25, exit to US- 70 and proceed East. From US-70 exit at Roadrunner Parkway then turn South. Proceed to the first traffic light at Northrise Drive and turn Left. Move into the Right lane and turn Right (approximately 100 yards) into the Village at Northrise complex. Follow the driveway to the bottom of the slope and turn Right. Park in the parking spaces along the road and proceed to the front entrance to the Hallmark unit. The Walk Box will be under an end table on the left just inside the front lobby. Restrooms are upstairs at the beginning of the hallway to the right.

START-FINISH TIMES... Start anytime between dawn and enough time to finish the walk before dark.

TRAIL INFORMATION ... Register at the Hallmark Unit of the Village at Northrise and drive approximately 1.2 mile south on Roadrunner Pkwy, turning left on Sonora Springs Blvd for approximately .7 miles to the North Entrance to Desert Trails Park. Trail includes 2.3 km through the park with the remainder through newer, upscale residential neighborhoods and the Sonoma Ranch Golf Club area. Trail is rated 1.

GENERAL INFORMATION ... Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. You must finish before dark. The trail is as indicated on the directions provided at registration. Pets must be controlled and on a leash; please bring water for your pets. You are eligible for IVV event credit only once during the period of 1 January to 30 June and once more for the 1 July to 31 December period. And, you get IVV distance credit every time you complete the course. NOTE - IVV credit (event and/or distance) can be placed only in the corresponding IVV/AVA record books. Fee for the “A” Award is $5.00, which includes free IVV Credit if desired. Fee for IVV Credit only is $3.00. If IVV Credit is not desired, participation is free. This event is open regardless of weather conditions; no refunds.

START POINT ... The Volksmarch Box will be under an end table on the left just inside the front lobby.  Register in our AVA sign-in book, take a Start Envelope from the folder and record the Start Number from the Register in the lower left block of the envelope.  Check the appropriate box for Free, IV Credit, or Award.  Take one of the 5 KM or 10 KM Directions/Map from the folder.  Before starting, if you need, the Restrooms are upstairs at the beginning of the hallway to the right.  Follow the directions on the Directions/Map and drive to the parking at the trailhead.

CHECK POINTS ... are unattended.  Record the answer to the check point question on your start envelope.

FINISH POINT ... Once again, retrieve the Volksmarch box from under the table.  Place appropriate payment, either check or cash, in  the envelope and place it in the Completed Walk folder.  If you walked for Credit or Award stamp your record book.  Take an award from the Awards folder if appropriate. There are brochures in the Box for our other walks if you have time to do them.  Return the box to its place under the end table.   We hope you enjoyed your walk.
