This event qualifies for the AVA RiverWalk America program.
This is an 11 km (6.8 miles) event with the registration point at the Best Western Inn, 901 Avenida de Mesilla, Las Cruces,
New Mexico.
DIRECTIONS: ...
I-10 from the East or West: Take Exit 140
(Mesilla), and turn east (left from the west - right from the east) onto Avenida
de Mesilla. Go 0.2 mile and turn right into the Best Western Mesilla Valley
Inn’s parking lot.
I-25 From the North: Proceed to I-10 and follow the ramp
towards Deming and Tucson. Take Exit 140 as noted above.
US Highway 70:
Enter I-25 South at the interchange and
proceed as noted above.

TRAIL RATINGS
... Two trails, they are moderately easy (1+) along paved roads, canal banks,
gravel road shoulders, and sidewalks. Strollers will need large wheels.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
...
Register at Best Western and drive 1.1 miles
on Avenida de Mesilla to Oñate Plaza to begin either walk. This event has both
Primary and Alternate Trails. Primary Trail is rated 1, suitable for strollers.
This walk will take you to Historic Old Mesilla, the Plaza and San Albino
Cemetery along city streets, dirt and gravel irrigation canals. Many points of
historic interest are noted on the trail map, including many buildings on the
National Historic Register. Alternate Trail is rated 1, suitable for strollers.
This walk is along irrigation canals, recreation trail along the Rio Grande, and
some paved streets.
Only one event credit allowed even if completing both routes. Both trails
include walking to the Rio Grande.
