These STATS are based upon data from the FBI, the DOJ, and other government and antigun groups. Health stats are reported by various federal agencies. These data can be found in the World Almanac.

One is 18 times more likely to die at the hands of a negligent doctor than to be killed with a handgun.

One is 2.43 times more likely to die of AIDS than to be killed with a handgun.

One is 1.25 times more likely to die of a fall than to be killed with a handgun.

One is 7.9 times more likely to die of pneumonia than to be killed with a handgun.

One is 72.8 times more likely to die of heart disease than to be killed with a handgun.

One is 1.28 times more likely to drown, burn, or die ingesting food than to be killed by a handgun.

Assume all violent crime involves firearms.
1) Assume criminals responsible for two uses per criminal.
Assume criminals own one gun each.

Therefore:

966,137 guns are used in violent crime.

This amounts to 0.48% (966,137/200,000,000) of all guns are involved in violent crime.

2) Assume criminals responsible for one use per criminal.
Assume criminals own one gun each.

Therefore:

1,932,274 guns are used in violent crime.

This amounts to 0.96% (1,932,274/200,000,000) of all guns are involved in violent crime.

3) Assume criminals responsible for five uses per criminal.
Assume criminals own one gun each.
Therefore:

386,455 guns are used in violent crime.

This amounts to 0.19% (386,455/200,000,00) of all guns are involved in violent crime.

First, the assumption that all violent crime involved firearms is, in actuality, in excess of the true number. Second, the number of crimes committed by a single individual, especially an individual using a firearm, are much greater than two per individual.

If we assume the 1,932,274 violent crimes ALL involve gun owners and each involves a different individual, then 2.76% of all gun owners are violent criminals. This leaves 97.24% of ALL gun owners as non-violent, non-criminal individuals.

If we assume the 1,932,274 violent crimes ALL involve gun owners but each five crimes involves a single individual, then 0.55% of all gun owners are violent criminals. This leaves 99.45% of ALL gun owners as non-violent, non-criminal individuals.
