A little way south of the Cochise Stronghold, just south of the modern towns of Sunsites and Pearce, you will find the beginning of a dirt road called the Ghost Town Trail.  It is not a long road, and not very rough.  It will take you through the ghost towns of Pearce and Courtland, before ending at the Gleeson Road.  If you turn right on that road, you will come to Gleeson, and then a little way beyond that you will find the turn-off for Rattlesnake Crafts.  (If you follow the road for about ten more miles, it will take you into Tombstone.

Pearce, Courtland and Gleeson are just a few of the ghost towns in Cochise County.  We will put photos of more of them on this site as we are able.  Click here for a map of the Ghost Town Trail.

Pearce

The first Ghost town you come to on the Trail is Pearce.  Like many western ghost towns, it is a ghost of its former self, but it is not uninhabited.

Courtland

Partway down the Trail, you will begin to see the ruins of Courtland.  The jail was too crowded by brush for a good picture the day we came through, but there are other ruins spread around the location of the town.  Please be extraordinarily careful if you walk away from the road, there are many old mineshafts around here.
