(but it's also nice to have the option of playing that thing in the middle...)
The use of the "Monster" class is one of the things that makes Amtgard so unique among live-action role playing groups. The burden of being Guildmaster of Monsters (or a questmaster or special battle designer) is not one to be taken lightly, if you want to do a good job. No other class is restricted to getting two credits per month. No other class has such potential for unbalancing a game. And no other class requires special scenarios simply to justify its existence in a battle. (I've always wanted to have the GM of EVERY class, at least once each six months, be forced to design a battle in which they had to come up with a reason why their class should be allowed to play, or else they couldn't play that class. Think they'd go for it? Shyah, right.) ;) This web page is designed to assist those who have this burden of responsibility, but should also be a handy reference for all others wishing to know more about Amtgard Monsters.

Under the guidance, tutelage, and careful observation of Arch Duke Sir Egil ("Iggy") "Tree-Speaker" Njalsson, this page was designed and written by his son, Bjarni "Sausage-Seeker" Egilsson, the Happy Woodsman; Guildmaster Emeritus of Monsters (yet another title created just for me), 6th level Master Monster, and 7-time GM of Monsters for the Kingdom of Dragonspine. (If you don't recognize Bjarni's name: he bears a striking resemblance to his father, since they share the same mundane body. Or just think of him as "the guy in the Tigger suit at Clan.") The presence of any idea or creature on this web page does not constitute my endorsement of same: it merely denotes my willingness to let others see the ideas presented here. If you have any questions, comments, or (especially) high praise, please send them to egil@zianet.com.
The contributions of others are noted where appropriate. Special thanks go out to Sir Ivar Nefarious of the Kingdom of the Burning Lands for providing the disk space for earlier versions of this page.
