Guidelines for Submitting New Items for This Web Page
The Monster web page is intended to grow. As long as there is imagination, it will never be complete (to paraphrase Walt Disney). The many new monsters which appeared in the latest version of the Dor-Un-Avathar are proof that Amtgard as a whole encourages this development. Yet there are certain submission guidelines I would ask you to follow, to minimize the chaos factor. (Please please please read all of them -- it won't take long.)
- Please submit all new monsters in the same format as they are in the 7th edition of the Dor-Un-Avathar. Please make sure that all items in the standard format are filled in, and don't forget to credit the person of persons who came up with it, if known. If you wish, you can download a blank monster submission form, which includes general descriptions of each item. More detailed instructions and suggestions can be found in the Dor-Un-Avathar.
- If you're submitting an article, please send it as a pure text file (unless you want to insert your own HTML codes). I intend to post it exactly the way you wrote it, though I may go over it for spelling or grammar problems. (I am a schoolteacher, after all: I have a stereotype to maintain.)
- With battle scenarios, please let me know not just what the idea is; but also how it actually worked in practice, what land or lands were involved, and what you might do differently next time.
- I reserve the right to re-name monsters or concepts if I think the term you used may be in violation of copyright law. I am open to discussion if you think I have done so unnecessarily; but I prefer to err on the side of safety.
- If you have photos or drawings (which I encourage), please scan them into JPG or GIF format, and e-mail them; or snail-mail them to me (see below). If you want to do it differently, or have no idea what I'm talking about, please contact me and I'll give you more details.
- Items for "silly creatures" and "thoughts on playing monsters" can be submitted by anyone. For everything else (such as battle scenarios and seriously proposed monsters), I would *prefer* to deal directly with the GMs of Monsters of the various lands. This way I know each item has been locally tried, tested, and approved. (If a monster has not been playtested, but you couldn't wait to post it, please simply make a note of that fact.) The best way to ensure this is to have the GM of Monsters send things to me directly, but I know not all of them have e-mail access. If you are not a GM of Monsters, please make sure that your local GM has approved any battle or serious monster before you send it to me, and tell me who your GM is in case I need to verify anything or ask questions regarding their design.
- You can e-mail things to me at egil@zianet.com, or send via snail mail (as a printout and/or pictures, or in text and/or JPG or GIF formats on an IBM or Mac disk) to: Bjarni Egilsson, c/o Kalle V. Jorgensen, 2444 Dona Ana Road, Las Cruces, NM 88005. And please forgive delays in response: as someone mundanely working on a doctorate in education, and working full time, I have to give those things priority. I'll get to your items as soon as I can. Thanks!
