I realize that most people hate the subject of history. If you're anything like me your history grades in school weren't much higher than the soles of your shoes. So I promise to make this as short as possible. Of course if you like history then you're gonna LOVE this.
I felt a need for this little dissertation because most American citizens know little about the purpose of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. You need to understand the intent of the founding fathers. You need to know what you have (or had) before you can appreciate what you've lost (are losing).
The first thing we need to touch on is the type of government the founding fathers established for us. Those of you that just muttered, "a democracy you dummy" are 100% dead wrong. This nation was founded as a republic. More correctly, a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC. What's the diff you say? Well a democracy is mob rule. A constitutional republic on the other hand, restricts mob rule. Why? Because we have a constitution and other documents that define the limits of government and individual actions. OK, lets make it simple enough that even I can understand. EXAMPLE: You're on a deserted island with two people. No food (probably do some of us a world of good) and you've not eaten for three weeks. The other two guys (maybe ones a girl) vote to eat you. A two to one vote. THAT'S a democracy. A constitutional republic says, "we don't eat people!"
OK! Not bad for a start. So next question. What rights did our government give to us? I heard some of you say,"free speech", others said, "free worship", still others, "free press". WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! The Government didn't GIVE us anything. We, the PEOPLE reserved certain rights to ourselves. Remember, if the government giveth, the government can taketh away. Our form of government has always been centered around "the right of the people." How does the Preamble to the Constitution begin? "WE THE PEOPLE." And concludes..."do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." Every single right contained in the Bill of Rights is an INDIVIDUAL right. Not a collective right as some would have you believe. So who's suppose to be in control here folks? (NO, Microsoft is not the answer.)
So what's the bottom line? Well...it goes like this. Everything in the Constitution and Bill of Rights are there for a very good reason. Our founders were not like todays politicans. They didn't "hang out" in Washington D.C. trying to think up legislation to justify their jobs. Our founders had been thru hell in England. They had left a King that was a mental basket case, a life style that permitted very little in the way of individual rights. So as the founders knitted our nation they toiled over each important issue of individual rights that had been denied them by the Crown. The result was a charter that set the limits and boundries of governmental power. In other words, Government, this is what you CAN do; and this is what you CAN'T do.
Basically, the Republic emphasizes individual responsibility not dependency upon government. In reference to governments seizing power, Thomas Jefferson warned us to be ever vigilant. In the natural order of things, it's the Governments job to take away our rights. It's our job to see that they don't. There was an elderly lady present outside the church at the signing of the Constitution. When old Ben walked out she asked him,"well Ben what did you give us" refering to the type of government. He said, "mad'am you have a republic. If you can keep it."
Do you want to keep it? Or would you rather have no rights other than what a socialistic government would allow you? Billery has espoused the philosophy of "communitarianism." That is; the community is more important than the individual. That's nothing more than communism folks! But that's the philosophy the power base is pushing. That's what the NWO is all about. No more individual rights. They are selling your heritage to the highest bidder. Actually the Pres is giving most of it away. And this is done slowly with no fanfare so that you won't notice. (Don't expect the liberal media to tell you). It's wayyyy past time to start noticing. So get off yer ass and get involved. Because, "you don't know what you've lost, 'till its gone."
