Telnet
Why Telnet?
Despite the enormity of the web & the richness of ftp sites, there are things you
are missing if you don't telnet.
Every Internet service provider has the ability to accept Telnet sessions.
Telneting into a system you will either need to have an
account or the system will need to be a public access system.
Telneting can be a lot of work remembering where to go.There is a program called Hytelnet that can help a lot! Inventor Peter Scott, it stands for Hyper-text Browser for Telnet and you can download it from ftp ftp.usask.ca a)Telnet operates in a client/server environment in which one host (the computer you are using, running Client (User) Telnet) negotiates opening a session on another computer (the remote host, running Server Telnet).
b)During the negotiation process, the two computers agree on parameters governing the session. The first thing they settle is terminal type to be used(vt-setting set by you). Virtual terminal refers to a set of terminal characteristics and sequences that both sides agree to use to transmit data regardless of the terminal used.
Telnet is a internet application which allows you to become a user on a remote computer. Once you access the
remote computer, you can use it for its intended purposes. Just a few sites you can visit to start with click icon....
Unlike FTP
, the telnet application does not allow you to transfer and save
files to your own computer.
