- Telnet, the user portion is the cornerstone. Telnet handles the remote login to another Internet host, so it is useful to know something about the way it works.
a)Telnet operates in a client/server environment in which one host (the computer you are using, running Client (User) Telnet) negotiates opening a session on another computer (the remote host, running Server Telnet).
b)During the negotiation process, the two computers agree on parameters governing the session. The first thing they settle is terminal type to be used(vt-setting set by you). Virtual terminal refers to a set of terminal characteristics and sequences that both sides agree to use to transmit data regardless of the terminal used.
