Jayne Simmons Williams

Jayne Simmons Williams has been involved in the arts most of her life.  She began playing piano and drawing at pre-school age and writing poetry followed in elementary school.  She became involved in speech and drama in high school and the love of art, music and drama continued into college.  All of these multiple talents contribute to the creation of her paintings -- the rhythmic flow of her artwork, the emotional strength of the painting and the dramatic portrayal of the central theme.

The artistic ability to weave together the tapestry of exciting imageries of the southwest, estern, wildlife and native American themes, dramatic combinations of color and the emotional impact of her original poetry written for some of her paintings combine to make a lasting impression on everyone viewing her work.  Striking lighting, dramatic shadows and clear, exciting colors identify her artwork.  A multi-media painter, Williams works in oil, soft pastel, acrylic and watercolor.

She has won numerous painting awards among which are the Grumbacher Bronze Medallion, Best of Show awards, First and Second Place ribbons and the 1990 "Honoring Clovis in Fine Art" award from the Clovis, New Mexico Chamber of Commerce.  Two of her original soft pastel paintings were chosen by the New Mexico state chapter of Ducks Unlimited for publication as their Sponsor Prints- Sacred Feathers I in 1992 and Winter's Warmth in 1995-1996.
