    Day 1

The Las Cruces white wing dove hunt started out with the old saying "You should have been here last week" My Human (Hart) and a few others Joe W, Joe H, Steve, Darrell, Will ,Caitlyn (my master's daughter) and another dog Dixie were hunting in a cut corn field near La Mesa, New Mexico. Everyone was harassing Hart about the lack of birds. Well the majority of the birds had gone, but they had been here and we would find them. This hunt had been planned when Joe H and Darrell made the comment "we have never hunted white wings". (They are from Clovis and I guess they don't have these dove over there.) I was beginning to think "they aren't going to shoot any now either". We waited a while and a few finally started to come in. Caitlyn had the best spot, under an old dead cottonwood tree. I stayed with her. She is the best shot of them all and I had a good time retrieving her birds.

    Day2

We found the birds.!! They were using a cut corn field near Berino, New Mexico. Today only 5 hunters and 1 dog were hunting, Joe H, Darrell, Steve, Caitlyn, Hart and me. The birds were flying and the hunters were hitting them. Darrell and Joe were on one side of a ditch and Caitlyn and Steve were on the other side. Hart (the guide) was sitting on the tailgate of the pick-up. It was great retrieving birds for these hunters. I got to cool off in the ditch, as a bird would fall on one side and another would fall on the other side. Limits were shot this day.
