Judy Thompson and husband Gary
Smith moved to Las Cruces to start the New Millenium, escaping from the
hectic pace of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in Texas, where they lived and
worked at their respective careers...Judy as a home economics teacher,
and later as a marketing manager for a large telecommunications
corporation...Gary as an engineer at several electronics mfg. companies.
They also operated a small video production company for several years.
When they decided to retire from "real work", New Mexico
seemed the logical choice, as they had developed a love for the state
over the past 20 years or so, passing through Las Cruces many
times on their way to backpacking vacations in the Gila Wilderness.
They're here to stay now! Judy finally got time to fulfill her long-time
ambition of writing a chile cookbook, for which Gary produced a
companion video. The resulting "A
Tale of Two Chiles" has been well-received in Southern New
Mexico and West Texas. When not exploring their new state they keep busy
with a variety of New Mexico chile and travel-related projects.
