New Mexico Travel Videos
Short, informative videos about places of interest in our state

Introducing our "Postcards from New Mexico" series of videos

New Mexico has an amazing array of interesting places. Before moving here, while gathering material for our "Tale of Two Chiles" cookbook and video, we embarked on a whirlwind tour of the southern half of the state, shooting hours of digital video footage, some of which we've never even viewed.

Now that we're finally settled in our new home state and can relax and explore at a less frantic pace, we decided to put together a series of videos about some of the great places we've visited.  This is an on-going project, and new videos will be added from time to time. Here are the first two in the series:

White Sands National Monument
One of New Mexico's most fascinating attractions, White Sands stretches for miles along the Tularosa Basin near Alamogordo. Formed millions of years ago by ancient sea sediments, the Sands are one of the state's most popular tourist destinations. The video details how the dunes were formed, taking the viewer on a tour of Lake Lucero, birthplace of the dunes.
From an early morning hot air balloon rally, to a peaceful afternoon stroll among the dunes, to a breathtaking full moon rising over an almost other-worldly landscape, this video will whet your appetite to see this amazing place in person.

Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
It's another perfect New Mexico winter day...clear blue sky above, snow-capped mountains in the distance, and all around, the amazing sights and sounds of thousands of Snow Geese and Sandhill Cranes who each year spend the winter here.
Located near Socorro, the Bosque is a spellbinding place to spend a day. Each morning at daybreak, mass flights of geese and cranes lift off from the marsh ponds where they spend the nights, and move to the grain fields where they feed all day. Then at sundown they return to the marshes in noisy chaotic waves, to begin the cycle all over again. The birds are only here from November through February, so if you can't make it then, this video is a great introduction to a place you'll want to visit again and again.

About The Videos
I'm almost hesitant to call these "Travel Videos", because I've found a lot of travel videos to be boring. They're usually too long, too "wordy", too canned-sounding. Our aim here was to keep each video short, concise, and to the point. As the name "Postcards from New Mexico" implies, each is intended to provide some pretty pictures along with a bit of information about a single location, and hopefully to motivate the viewer to visit that location...sort of like a "Wish You Were Here" picture postcard. Each video is about 10minutes long, and each is priced at only $8.50.  (Price includes Media rate postage).
