First Presbyterian Church
Las Cruces, NM

These pictures were taken at the Independace Day Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the InBetweeners and organized by Don Rhodes, June 24, 2005.

The June meeting of the InBetweeners was not the usual evening gathering but was in Independence Day Prayer Breakfast organized by Don Rhodes to which everybody was invited. While the breakfast itself started at 6:30 AM, Don was in the church kitchen by 3:30 AM to prepare the homemade cinnamon rolls with which everybody started. These were followed by juice, bacon, eggs, grits, biscuits, and gravy. There were about a dozen kitchen workers to keep the 60 people in attendance well fed.

The program started with the posting of the colors by John Grandle. There were four main presentations

·Matt Holt – First Presbyterian Church

·Timothy Smith – Northminster Presbyterian Church

·Carol Blevins – Good Samaritan Center

·John Pickett – University Presbyterian Church

All the presentations, while independently prepared, were remarkably similar. The theme was the place the leaders of the American Revolution gave to God as the author of the drive for liberty. Each presentation ended with a short, relevant prayer. Music was provided by Kelly Temple and Arnold McMillan.
