FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
ADMINISTRATION MINISTRY TEAM
Minutes for May 12, 2009
Present: Mary Kammann (Moderator), Carl Connor, Joan Rawson, and Winnie Quinzi. Ken Osborne and Mike Bartholomew were excused. Pastor Norm Story was present for part of the meeting.
Carl opened the meeting with prayer.
Joan Rawson presented the committee with the new lease with The Children's Garden, effective 6/1/2008-7/31/2012. The terms of the lease were agreed upon by both parties to the benefit of the church and The Children's Garden.
Budget issues were discussed regarding the needs of the church committees and congregation.
Joan will investigate the possibility of a church credit card which does not hold one individual personally responsible for church finances.
Mary read the letter she sent to the person requesting use of FPC kitchen facilities by a professional. She denied the request respectfully and graciously.
Norm notified the committee that our CE director is leaving, and we will not be filling the position at the present time. It was stated that church members need to work together to take on the responsibilities of this position.
The committee will be revising and clarifying language for travel and mileage reimbursement policies in the Policy and Procedure manual.
Procedures for securing and transporting contributions from services and fundraisers to the bank will be posted and distributed to the Deacons and those in charge of fund-raising activities. For example, instructions will be given on how to lock the collection bag for the bank, and where and how it is to be secured during services, or securing the temporary plastic bank deposit bags. We discussed the amount of value of fundraiser dinners, and how much should be considered tax deductible. It was decided that the price of the dinner per check would be $5.00.
FPC Foundation issues were discussed and Joan will look into this to provide clarification of rental status and communication between the Foundation and the Administration Committee. The Session is the Board of Directors of the Foundation.
Respectfully submitted,
Winnie Quinzi
