FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
ADMINISTRATION MINISTRY TEAM
Minutes for meeting of June 9, 2009
Present: Mary Kammann (Moderator), Carl Connor, Joan Rawson, Mike Bartholomew.
Excused: Winnie Quinzi, and Ken Osborne.
Michelle Del Rio, the church's bookkeeper was present for the meeting.
- Meeting called to order a 7 p.m.
- Mary opened the meeting in prayer.
-- Monday morning money counting is going very well.
- Joan reported that the Foundation was not in good standing with the PRC as the Annual report was not filed in May. Michelle is still working on sorting out status of Foundation account as part of the process of cleaning up and re-organizing the financial records. -
- The first Sunday of the month pledge receipts for May were down about $5000 from the first Sunday in April. This is a troubling trend that will have a budget impact, but understandable given the state of the economy.
-- Joan asked about the status of a number of accounts. Michelle and Carl helped to clarify. It was also noted there was some difficulty sorting out Presbyterian Women (PW) accounts from the general church account. After some discussion, since PW are handling their own deposits and writing their own checks, it was agreed that they should issue their own receipts for money's they receive. They are welcome to use the Church computers and stationary for their activities.
-- One church member who had made a loan to the Church for the Phase I Church Renovation capital loan payoff had received an interest payment in 2007 and she had endorsed the check back to the church as a donation, but the check was never deposited and never cleared the bank. This member would rather have that interest check reissued as she could now use that interest money. It was agreed to issue a new check.
-- It was noted that a church employee was having too much withheld from her paycheck for a supplemental life insurance policy. This will be corrected.
-- Buildings and Grounds developed a new job description for Mike McClanahan and recommended a $0.25/hour raise -- the first raise in many years. They also recommended that in fairness to Mike, instead of paying him a flat rate for his work on Sunday ($40), they recommend that he should be paid for all hours worked that Sunday at the new rate. These recommendations were approved and were made retroactive to 1 June 2009.
Meeting adjourned about 8:15 p.m.. Next meeting July 14 at 7 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by Mike Bartholomew
