Minutes Building & Grounds Meeting

March 12, 2008

Present: Jean Rhodes, Donna Mathis, Jean-Bernard Nganou

Excused: Bob Paul, Charlie Yaryan.

The meeting opened at 7:03 PM with a Prayer.

Old Business:

·        Overhead light in West Side of sanctuary is missing a diffuser. A service provider will be called. We have no way to safely reach this light. Bob Paul

·        Need of additional wood chips in playground surface. Task was completed by Charlie Yaryan with the help several of our youth groups and leaders Travis and Scott, and our scouting leaders

·        Doorstop at east door of Reeves Hall needs reattaching. Completed by Bob Paul

·        Membership survey for Columbarium: We decided that Jean will talk with either Bob Taylor or Bob McPherson and have him agree to give a minute on this project. She has also volunteered to arrange for a spot for such a minute in the Church service schedule. We also thought it would be a good idea to have some sample pictures of a columbarium, on the board in Jones Hall. That way questions about the project from people could be answered during or after the fellowship time. The idea is to expose people to the project a little bit before the survey gets mailed to the church’s members.

New Business:

·        The refrigerator quit cooling and was repaired by Crown Plumbing. Bob Paul

·        Door Latch Tampering issue, east end of Reeves Hall- Bob Paul Task

·        Control switch in Deacons Room “disappeared”. Repair completed by Bob Paul

·        Several failures of the dishwashing machine. In all cases the problem has been foreign materials clogging the pump and water ways. It was found that an interior filter is missing and is on order. Bob Paul Task.

·        Gate next to Sanctuary exit for choir will not stay locked. Jon Daniels has had a lot of experience maintaining the gates and has volunteered to look at the situation.

·        Kitchen ovens require calibration. Crown Plumbing performed this calibration. Bob Paul ordered the calibration. Jean pointed out that the left oven might still not be working, and we suggested that Bob Paul checks on that.

·        Issues with janitor services in Branigan Hall (Children’s Garden), Bob Paul is working to resolve these issues. Coordination with our Janitor service and with the director of Children’s Garden is in progress with some resolution achieved. Task is continuing.

·        Fasteners at the top of the playground fence, West side, are missing or damaged and need replacing. Charlie Yaryan.

Meeting was partially adjourned with prayer at 7:43 PM.

We walked to Jones, found Tracy who volunteered to explain what the problems were with the dishwasher, the fence of the playground missing fasteners. All needed parts have been ordered for the dishwasher and the dish rinse station.
