Buildings and Ground Ministry
April 9, 2009
Present: Bob Paul, Donna Mathis, Jean Bernard Nganou
Excused: Jean Rhodes, Charlie Yaryan
Meeting opened at 700 PM with prayer.
· The overhead light in the West Side of Sanctuary is still missing a diffuser. The diffuser is on hand but we have not completed the task as the position of the Overhead light is too high for us to climb. Bob Paul has the action; he will hire a technician to replace the diffuser.
· Membership survey for support of a columbarium. A meeting of interested congregation members was held at Good Sam. Bob Taylor submitted an abbreviated proposal that was submitted to all by email. Jean Rhodes was pulling things together when Don Rhodes was hit with a heart problem. Jean has just not been able to pursue the project. The ministry is planning to resume the project plan that was developed last month.
· Door latch-tampering issue, East End of Reeves Hall. No solution yet.
· Door bell ring in Watkins needs to be disabled before the high school testing begins in May. Bob Paul met with Melissa, the new CG director on this issue. She will find out why it is in operation and thus if and how it can be disabled.
· The problems with the dishwasher seem resolved for the present.
· The gate latch next to the sanctuary, West Side was professionally repaired by Ed Mathis. To see what craftsmanship is, stop and look at it.
· The Kitchen ovens were calibrated and reportedly are now OK.
· Ed Mathis replaced the fasteners on the West Side of the playground fence.
· A plan to keep the columbarium project going was discussed.
· Received a request to replace a sprinkler head near the West Side of the Sanctuary. Repairs were made. (Pastor Norm’s engineering drawing was quite useful)
· We are planning a workday around May-June, some of the tasks for that day include replacing the parking signs, painting the fence, renewing if necessary the FPC’s sign, shelving the garage and more.
· Concerning the Columbarium, Bob Paul will gather all the materials that have been prepared in regards to the project, he will also contact Bob McPherson and Bob Taylor to put the pieces of the project together. They will then decide what the very next steps to take will be.
· We formalized our program that will recognize church members that work for B&G. They will appear on the B&G honor roll that will be published in the church Good News.
Meeting closed at 7:45 PM with prayer.
