Opening Prayer by Bob Paul

 Attendees: Bob Paul, John Bernard Nganou, Donna Mathis, and Ralph Miller

Excused: Jean Rhodes, Charlie Yaryan

 Old Business:

 ·        Workday:  A workday is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2008, 0800-1200. Charley and Ralph will put together a list of workday projects. All are encouraged to submit ideas to Charlie and Ralph. We should complete the list by Friday so that we can get the materials together. Some prior tasks on hold or unfinished work from last workday are:

·        An overhead light in West Side of Sanctuary still requires reinstallation of the diffuser. We decided to hire an electrical firm to do this but have not carried through on this yet.

·        Quadrangle fence- needs paint.

·        Paint wooden fences around a/c units - Branigan Hall.

·        Paint refrigerator bumpers.

·        Light fixtures – Need a final count of required repairs and replacements on lights in Jones hall (Charlie is working on this).

·        Tubes

·        Ballasts

·         Diffusers/reflectors

 New Business.

 ·        We have received a request from our guests and fellow Christians of the Iglesia del Pueblo. The committee viewed it as a very worthy request and began consideration of how to respond to it.

 Reverend Hawkins has requested that we have our church sign in front reflect the residency of the Spanish church on our campus. They meet in the theater in the East End of Reeves Hall at 9:30 AM every Sunday. The church is Iglesia del Pueblo (Church of the people) and Reverend Hawkins, who is fluent in Spanish and English, serves as their pastor.

 The committee decided to keep the cost as low as possible in hopes of expediting the request. Our approach is to see if we can modify our sign to indicate their church and their Sunday meeting time. They would like it if we could also put up a small sign with an arrow pointing toward the east door. It would be off the drive way (against the trees) and at the NE corner of Reeves Hall. They request also that we allow a small moveable sign to be placed by the door indicating the Iglesia entrance.

 The committee plans to deal first with the smaller signs as quickly as possible and then tackle modification and some refurbishment of the large sign out front. We will agree on a recommendation to the session. If the Session accepts our proposal we will execute the plan or modify it as needed.

 ·        A workday is planned for September. We will (see if Donna wants to) get a spot on next Sunday’s Worship program to make an announcement on the worship program for September 7, 2008. The workday will be announced then.
