Building and Grounds Meeting Minutes,

Committee Meeting

March 10, 2009

 Meeting opened at 7:10 PM in prayer.

Old Business

·        Electronic Sign: Costs were reviewed and more information was requested.

·        Preparation of Facility Manual (On going project)

·        Handbook for Children’s Garden drafted

·        A protocol for kitchen sanitation was prepared and presented by Clint Woodward at the request of Bill Brady. Data is being collected for the electrical and plumbing and other systems. This is a continuing project.

·        Refurbishment of light fixtures: Repair of all outside lights has been completed except for one for which parts are on order. Sixty-five new lenses for indoors fluorescent lights are being manufactured for use around the campus. Charley Yaryan reported that this project is on schedule. (Note: Replacement lenses are no longer stocked.)

·        Remodel the east parking area for improved and increased handicapped parking using the phase II remodeling plan. The committee decided, even though the budget is extremely tight, to go ahead with planning because of what is viewed a priority need.

·        Toilet paper dispensers, Watkins. Three dispensers were replaced. Work paused until our stock of non-standard paper is used.

·        Additional Signs for Iglesia Del Pueblo Church. Bill Brady is working with Rev. Hawkins to finalize the requirements. - Two small auxiliary signs are needed.

·        How to participate in the Good News. We will begin to use this resource more often.

·        Need at least spot carpet repairs in the sanctuary and a schedule for cleaning. No progress to report.

·        Bird droppings, sidewalk at the SE corner of Jones Hall, comprise a nuisance. Several possible solutions were discussed. No progress to report. Some cleaning is planned.

·        Repair of keeling benches. No recent progress to report.

·        Toilet paper dispensers, Watkins. In process.

·        Sound coming across the pulpit area from the choir seems distorted. What is the problem and how can it be addressed? (No progress to report)

·        Formalize B&G Committee “job description” (includes notes from Session Retreat) Draft 50% completed.

New Business

·        Spring Workday. Set for 04/18/09. Committee will meet on Saturday March 18, for a planning session.

·        Presentation of a protocol for kitchen cleaning and sanitation was made by

      Clint Woodward, our Deacon Moderator.  This will become a part of our operations    

      manual.

·        Develop signs with instructions for handling Children’s supplies in the sanctuary. Waiting until requirements are established.

·        The City police are issuing traffic tickets to those parking in our handicap spaces when church is not in session. It is currently planned to remove our “only on Sunday” signs and replace them with signs which request that the spaces be left open for handicap parking on Sunday.

Completed Tasks

·        Completed conversion of 3 of the toilet paper dispensers-some delayed as planned.

·        A quick repair was made to the retaining strap on the parlor curtain.

·        Proposed a specific vision objective for 2009.

·        Participated in the Mission statement review. Initial meeting completed 02-09-09.

·        Finalize the custodian positions. Job descriptions completed.

·        Notified grounds contractor, Wasser and Wasser, to start the irrigation system as of 03-09-09.

 Charlie Yanyan closed the meeting with a prayer.

 Meeting was adjourned at 8:45PM
