Building and Grounds Meeting Minutes,

Meeting Minutes, June 9, 2009

Present: Bob Paul, Charlie Yaryan, Ralph Miller, and Austin Breck, Bill Brady

 Excused: Jean Bernard Nganou

The meeting opened at 7:00 PM.

·        Children’s Garden Inspection: A recent pre-licensing inspection by the Director of Children’s Garden revealed needs to prepare for the final inspection:

·        Need more wood chips under the monkey bars and high structures.

·        Need Carpet edging in pre-schoolrooms (Check others)

·        Need to lower slightly the Hot water temperature in the age 2 room and the School age room. The thermostat needs to be lowered below 100 degrees.

·        A follow up inspection will be made no later than June 30th.  Corrective actions will be completed by June 26.

·        Charlie Yaryan volunteered to complete these tasks and meet the dead line.

·        The Committee agreed on an approach to move the electronic sign project. Bill Brady will determine the regulations that we will have to satisfy in order to construct the sign. Bob Paul will get some cost and design information. These actions are to be completed before the next meeting.

·        The budget status was reviewed and was found to be well within guidelines except for the maintenance and repair entry. A quick analysis suggested that we might not be charging for services such as garbage disposal and paper supplies (paper towels, toilet paper) This will be referred to the Administration Ministry team for consideration and recommendations.

·        Repairs Needed or Completed

·        Linda reports that the Children’s Garden users need 2-3 more “R” keys. R keys do not open the outside kitchen door nor the East end outside door. We need to establish whether a master key is needed and who needs the key. It was agreed that we would acquire and assign keys as appropriate. Action: Charley Yaryan.

·        Light fixtures in Children’s Garden were replaced or repaired as necessary.

·        Doorstop repaired at back door of the Children’s Garden.

·        Watkins Hall wardrobe doors are in need of repair. This requirement has slipped but will be completed in June. Equipment in the Hall is in disarray.

·        The operation of the coffee maker in Watkins hall was revisited. It was found to work properly about eight out of ten times. It is probably the temperature-controlled solenoid sticking or otherwise malfunctioning. Since it is intermittent we will not spend money trying to guess the solution. The pot works perfectly when we pour water into the reservoir by hand rather than depend on it to fill automatically. Charlie Yaryan volunteered to put up operating instructions in the vicinity of the pot. If it fails completely we will either repair it or replace it.

·        The Committee agreed on an approach to move the electronic sign project along. Bill Brady will determine the ordinances that we will have to satisfy. Bob Paul will get cost and design information. Actions are to be completed before the next meeting.

·        The committee began to explore ideas for getting more volunteer workers.

The meeting was closed at 7:59 PM with prayer.

Respectfully submitted by Bob Paul, Moderator
