2006 Cameroon Service
On July 30, 2006 a prominent part of the service was conducted by members of the congregation from the Cameroon.
Worship in the African church contains much joy, dancing, and singing; Cameroonians truly believe that singing is praying twice. The tradition is to sing as the Spirit leads; repeating verses as led by the cantor. In each church there are at least four choirs of different age groups, and all sing each Sunday during various parts of the service. Worship lasts approximately two hours; a Communion Sunday will last three hours.
This day's hymns were all in the hymnals of Cameroon and were chosen by our guest musicians. Although God's people live in different cultures and sing in many styles and languages, the great hymns of the church unify us as the Body of Christ.
