MINUTES

April 1, 2008

Committee Members present: Susan Grandle, Gena Breck, Tracy Geiger, Gary Gemoets, Blaine Goss, Olivier Huebo, Kathy Story

Guest: Scott Burns

 The minutes from the last meeting were approved, and the budget report was reviewed.  We are doing a good job watching our expenses.  We then received reports on Sunday School, Youth, Adults, and Salt & Light.  The last day for Salt & Light will be April 23.

 Old Business:

 Teacher Training—In turn, the committee members reported on the computer-based modules they were assigned to complete.  Everyone found the materials to be helpful and easy to use.  We concluded that the teacher training units would be worthwhile for our CE program.  We are recommending that we try the modules with the VBS staff on Sunday afternoon May 18^th.

 VBS—Vacation Bible School (June 16-20, 2008) is set to go.  The curriculum and staff are in place.  For the last day of VBS, parents will be invited to attend.

 Feb. 22-25 Staff Training—Travis and Scotty reported on their respective experiences in Cincinnati wherein they attended different classes for youth ministry workers.  Travis was particularly impressed with the program for evaluating a church’s youth ministry.  He will adopt the program he learned, which highlights planning, goal-setting, and evaluating the youth director’s activities.  Scotty went to four other classes and learned a lot in each one.  He especially liked the “Boundaries” class, and plans to use this information with the college age group at church.
